Patients in critical care are those who are critically ill, seriously injured and/or need close monitoring. At St. Paul’s Hospital, we have a critical care complex. It has three different critical care units, each for a specific condition:
We also have a Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT). CCOT is a mobile and multidisciplinary team, comprised of an ICU Nurse, Respiratory Therapist and ICU physician. The CCOT brings critical care knowledge and skills to the patient, so that a patient can receive this specialized level of care beyond just the walls of the critical care complex. This team responds to calls from staff on other in-patient units.
