Department/Unit/Program Description

On August 28, 2008, the Ross Memorial Hospital officially opened its Satellite Dialysis Unit, as part of the Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge Regional Dialysis Service. Our Regional Program ensures patients have 24/7 access to Nephrology on call, Social Work, Dietitian, Pharmacy reviews, Kidney Care Clinic, home dialysis (peritoneal or hemo) and preparation for transplant.

Position Summary

The Dialysis Unit is currently seeking a Permanent Part-Time B Registered Nurse to join their healthcare team.

Effective Date: April 27, 2026

Essential Qualifications

• Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
• Current BCLS certification required, on hire
• One year experience in a Hemo Dialysis Unit providing Hemodialysis
• Epic trained or ability to train and pass testing
• Demonstrated experience in an acute care setting
• Must have the ability to work well independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team within the Regional Dialysis Program
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement in using time effectively during less busy times
• Demonstrated ability to work well with patients, families and all levels of staff in the community
• Ability to work in stressful situations
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education
• Demonstrated good communication skills including evidence of strong documentation skills
• Good health teaching skills
• Well-developed; physical assessment skills
• Must be willing to adapt to new technology
• Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Nephrology Nursing Certification
• Completion of the Post Diploma Nephrology Program
• Completion of Cellular Homeostasis and Endocrinology, Physical Assessment and Renal modules
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills would be an asset

Hours of Work

Must be available to work twelve hour shifts Monday to Saturday. Shifts and hours may vary according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement.
