Overview 

Responsible for the provision of comprehensive nursing care as established by the standards of nursing practice set by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the standards of nursing care of this hospital. The focus of care delivery is specialized to meet the needs of palliative care patients and their families through end of life and in bereavement within a holist interdisciplinary care model.

Education 

- Registered Practical Nursing with current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BLS certificate is required.
- Palliative/Hospice Care certification an asset.

Qualifications

- One year of recent and relevant nursing experience working with palliative care patients and chronic/ventilated patients required. 
- Maintains competence relative to current practices.
- Familiar with feeding pumps, G-feeds, oxygen administration, skin wound management, intermittent catheterization, tracheal suctioning and CADD infusion pump.
- Demonstrated skill in pain/symptom assessment and management within palliative scope of practice.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and knowledge/skill in grief support.
- Motivated to pursue education goals.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
 -Demonstrated skills in conflict management.
- Demonstrated excellent observational and assessment skills.
- Demonstrated superior organizational skills.
- Ventilator experience an asset.
- Experience working with coordinated care team mode.
- May be expected to work in all areas of the Complex Continuing Care & Rehab program (skills & abilities considered).
- Good work and attendance record required.
