Position Summary:

  • The successful candidate will meet performance standards as outlined by the College of Nurses and by the Trillium Health Centre policies and procedures
  • Responsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of medical care for patients
  • Practitioner, consultant and educator for appropriate patient groups and health care team members

Qualifications:        

  • Current registration and certification of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
  • Current BCLS is required
  • Recent Acute surgical inpatient experience is required. Demonstrates knowledge, skill and the ability to care for patients with the following; IV therapy, blood transfusion, patient-controlled analgesia, epidurals, central venous access devices; nasogastric tubes, wound care management; continuous bladder irrigation, glucose monitoring, normal and abnormal blood values, postoperative fluid management and postoperative care.
  • Ability to critically think and demonstrate good judgement in order to prioritize patient care needs in emergency situations
  • A physical assessment course is preferred
  • Highly effective decision making, problem-solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interprofessional and communication skills
  • Positive attendance and work competency essential
  • Reliable and flexible individual to work and collaborate as part of a diverse interprofessional team
  • Must meet the physical demands of the position; performing substantial walking, standing, twisting and bending as required for patient care and other responsibilities and follow the no lift patient care policy
