Job Description:

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Coronary Care Unit (CCU), the successful candidate(s) will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered care environment. The CCU employs an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care utilizing the skills of physicians, specialized critical care nurses and a number of other professionals including registered respiratory therapists, dietitians, social workers and chaplains support this program. SHN CCU also has access to consultation with a clinical bioethicist. Trained staff participates in the hospital Code Response Team.

Requirements:
• Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• BScN preferred
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
• Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Completion of Critical Care Certificate
• Level 3 Critical Care experience
• Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
• Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
• Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgment
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
