The Endoscopy RN provides pre-, intra- and post-endoscopic procedure nursing care and monitoring as well as performing GI investigative and motility procedures to adult and pediatric populations across Hamilton Health Sciences sites. The RN offers health teaching and demonstrates knowledge to patients and families about their procedures. The RN contributes to new and ongoing research and quality assurance projects within the endoscopy department.
This position has a home site of MUMC, all Endoscopy RNs support multi-site operations and can work at MUMC, JH and HGH regardless of home site.
As part of Perioperative Services, the Endoscopy Units provide a full range of diagnostic procedures for patients with gastrointestinal and respiratory disorders, including pre-, intra- and post-procedural care. The Endoscopy department provides exemplary care to a variety of patients and partners with McMaster University's Center of Excellence Gastroenterology Department. Our program is committed to community partnerships which provide evidence based integrated services that include symptomatic, colorectal screening, surveillance and emergency procedures. The Endoscopy program provides care for both local and regional patients. The team supports gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, general surgeons, hepatic biliary surgeons, and respirologists.
