RESSCU (Rapid Evaluation and Symptom Support Cancer Unit) is a clinical service designed to provide rapid access to cancer patients who require urgent assessment of symptoms related to their disease or treatment. Patients are referred to RESSCU from JCC Clinics, Clinical Trials, the Chemotherapy Suite, Patient Assessment, /Radiation Treatment, directly from home, upon presentation to the emergency department, or post discharge from hospital. RESSCU also supports brachytherapy patients receiving sedation. Patients may be newly-referred to the cancer center, awaiting treatment, actively being treated or in the post treatment phase. RESSCU will provide care for cancer patients who require urgent interventions to support ongoing care at home, avoiding unnecessary emergency department visits or hospital admissions when possible.
