The Cardiac Ambulatory Clinic is located at the Hamilton General Hospital and is comprised of multiple clinics, including Comprehensive Cardiology Clinic, Arrhythmia and Heart Function. The RN works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide support for patients with cardiology specific issues. The interdisciplinary team is comprised of physicians, nurses, technologists, allied health, and booking clerks. Assessment, treatment and counselling are offered as part of patient care.
1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
2. Current BCLS certification, ACLS certification preferred
3. Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in acute cardiac care nursing and critical care
4. Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in ECG interpretation/treatment, hemodynamic monitoring (arterial lines and pulmonary artery catheters), ventilation, IV access, venipuncture, defibrillation, pacemakers and ICDs
5. Completion of a Critical Practice Orientation (ABG interpretation, adult code blue management, shock)
6. Current knowledge of the assessment and management of an acute cardiac population and critically ill adults
7. Demonstrated triage skills and knowledge of the nursing care planning process and evidence of the ability to utilize problem-solving and critical thinking techniques effectively
8. Demonstrated administrative and computer skills with experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
9. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
10. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work in response to patient needs
