The Primary Health Care Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner [RN (NP)] reports directly to the Primary Health Care Manager. This position will also have reporting responsibilities to other managers in the Primary Health Care portfolio and/or to managers of facilities that they provide services in. Accountability will be maintained through a close working relationship with the Primary Health Care Leadership team. The Primary Health Care RN (NP) works within the full scope of practice of a RN (NP) and promotes quality health care outcomes working within established standards of practice to ensure that clients receive a high standard of primary health care. As a member of an interdisciplinary, Primary Health Care Services team, the RN (NP) promotes and integrates the goals and principles of primary health care into daily work. This will be done in accordance with the Saskatchewan Health Authorityβs mission statement, philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures, and standards of the RN (NP) professional association. The incumbent is responsible and accountable at all times for their personal practice.Β

Education:
- Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP)
Experience:
- Inpatient services and/or harm reduction setting is required
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-time recent nursing experience
- Two (2) years advanced RN (NP) in applicable area
Knowledge and abilities:
- Ability and flexibility in adapting to changing situations and environments
Knowledge in time management
- Demonstrates ability in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques
- Knowledge in HIV, Hep C and addiction recovery
- Ability to implement holistic, comprehensive care to individuals/groups/families
- Ability to be self directed and work relatively independently
- Ability to initiate and exercise critical thinking and decision-making
- Knowledge in community development and facilitation strategies
- Commitment to continued learning and professional development.
- Knowledge in unique issues of HIV/STD and hepatitis
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrates leadership, confidence and autonomy in the RN (NP) role
Other education and training:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)
- Current CPR Level C
