Job Description: The Childrenβs Cardiology Nurse Practitioner RN (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and performs specific procedures in the management and treatment of patients in the inpatient acute care, and outpatient environment. This position will provide advanced nursing support and continuity of care for patients with cardiac conditions. The NP practices within a framework of evidence-based acute care, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. The practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families, and communities. This includes: supporting inter-professional collaboration; and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects.

Experience
- Five (5) full time years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- 2 years of pediatric nursing and/or pediatric cardiology experience preferred
Education
- Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
- Masterβs degree in nursing/clinical specialization to the practice area
Other Education and Training
- Canadian Nurses Association certification is preferred
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certificate (PALS)
