Job Description: The Nursing Supervisor is accountable for the overall coordination of care and flow of acute and non-acute patients throughout their stay. This includes the flow to and from other facilities within Region and Provincial/Inter-provincial. They also provide supportive care of other departments at the Victoria Hospital. They are responsible and accountable for patient bed management and utilize the Victoria Hospital beds and nursing staff resources in collaboration with the Unit Manager during their hours of work and in the off hours. The Nursing Supervisor is the management representative in the absence of the Unit Managers and all senior administrative personnel; therefore they provide both clinical and administrative direction and leadership within the hospital. They will rotate through the Acute Care Access Program working together with a Senior Social Worker to prevent unnecessary admissions to acute care and facilitate discharge planning at time of admission for complex care needs.

Experience

  • Five (5) years nursing experience in the specific clinical area

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Other Education and Training

  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
  • Nursing diploma is acceptable
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)
