The Complex Malignant Hematology (CMH) Service provides integrated care for individuals with malignant hematological disorders. The primary modes of therapy include chemotherapy administration, blood product transfusion, diagnostic bloodwork, medication infusions, therapeutic apheresis, stem cell harvest and both allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplant activity.
The Nurse Practitioner – Adult will work in partnership with the medical specialists and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide advanced nursing care and perform medical acts to support a population of patients with malignant hematological problems, on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The Nurse Practitioner will also play a significant role in the education and counseling of patients and families, and in research activities related to the refinement of
evidence-based practice. The NP provides direct patient care about 80% of the time, and participates in patient population related education, research/quality improvement initiatives and consultation activities the remainder of the time.

1. Completion of a Master’s Degree in Nursing or a recognized equivalent graduate program
2. Current certificate of registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in extended class
category
3. Minimum of 5 years recent clinical nursing experience in Hematology and Stem Cell Transplant
4. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
5. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
6. Demonstrated ability to function independently
7. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt positively to constantly changing clinical situations
8. Demonstrated clinical research expertise
9. Knowledge and experience in change theory and adult learning principles
