Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care in the surgical program and must meet the following criteria:

Educational Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

Mandatory Qualifications

  • 1 year of current (within 2 years) surgical experience
  • Able to perform venipuncture and I.V. starts

Technical:

  • Self-directed individual with the ability to work both independently and within an inter professional team
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing
  • Creative problem solver with a customer focus and patient friendly approach
  • Ability to multitask and set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to establish work relationships with external partners
  • Reliable individual with excellent attendance record
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus

Preferred Competencies

  • Experience in patient teaching
