The Emergency Department Navigator you will play a key role in ensuring the flow of patients into and out of the Belleville General Hospitals ED. The ED navigator will focus on collaboration with other units and ensuring timely transfers of patients to ensure they are ensuring the appropriate care in the correct location. This experienced ED RN will demonstrate strong communication and critical thinking skills.
• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in Emergency Department Nursing.
• Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. QHC Cardio Concepts).
• Current certification in ACLS, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention completed.
• Triage training completed.
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis available to review).
• Point of contact for coordinating and facilitating transfers into and out of the Belleville ED.
• Help with completion of SBARs in a timely fashion to facilitate transfers to inpatient units.
• Coordinate with other Quinte Health units sending patients to the Belleville ED.
• Assist with transfers of patients when needed.
• Triage patients arriving by ambulance and support offload delay when needed.
• Work with patients in the waiting room to ensure appropriate medical directives initiated to expedite patient care.
• Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Provision of care for patients within an inter-professional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
• Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
• Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.
• Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annual training and education as indicated.
• Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
• Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures.
• Adapts and adheres to the values of Quinte Health while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
• Other duties as assigned.
