Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Registered Nurse in the level 3 ICU is responsible for the provision of quality nursing care to critically ill patients and their families. The provision of such nursing care is expected to be within the Standards of Nursing Practice (CNO) and meet critical care standards.
The Registered Nurse is expected to maintain competence and skills through on-going participation in provided continuing education and the participation of advance skills training. The Registered Nurse actively participates in CNO Quality Assurance Program. As part of the level 3 ICU, the RN will gain opportunity to join the Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT).
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Post graduate courses in Critical Care preferred or commitment to complete within one year of hire
- Minimum of 1 year critical care nursing experience required with a preference for 3-5 years of level 3 ICU experience
- Previous experience on a Critical Care Response Team (CCRT) preferred
- Valid B.C.L.S. and A.C.L.S. and maintained throughout employment period, or commitment to complete within one year of hire

- Excellent assessment interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work quickly, independently and adapt to a variety of situations including Code Blue and Resuscitation
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, provide teaching to patients, families and other staff members
- Dedication to ongoing learning expected
- Participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centred environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives
- Good attendance and availability required
