Who you are:
The Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner with mental health experience and experience working with children and adolescents supports the vision, strategic direction, leadership, operational management and clinical practices at Markham-Stouffville Hospital.The Mental Health Clinic is an outpatient clinic that provides consultation and longitudinal care to child and adolescent patients with mental health issues.
The NP will work to full scope to practice within the interprofessional team model. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for direct patient care in a consultative/collaborative model, as well as participation in staff education and research, and program evaluation. The NP provides patient care in accordance with legislative acts and frameworks guiding NP practice such as those from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), the Regulated Health Professionals Act (RHPA), the Public Hospitals Act, the Nursing Act and established medical directives. The NP will demonstrate competency to autonomously diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform procedures within the RN(EC) legislated scope of practice and designated medical directives, as appropriate. Telephone follow-up post-discharge, external capacity building exercises, weekend and after-hours coverage may be required.
What you bring to the role:The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday days (9am-5pm), with some flexibility required as per clinic/patient needs. Schedules may change based on departmental needs.
