Company Overview: Aja Health Inc. is an innovative health and wellness company operating in three key business areas: telehealth, diagnostic access and insurance, and the sale of natural- based health products. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our team and establish a successful family medical practice in partnership with Canadian Travel Clinics and Alberta Health Services.
Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for independently managing a primary care clinic, providing comprehensive healthcare services within Alberta’s Primary Care Network. This role involves building and managing a patient panel, delivering preventative and chronic disease care, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure integrated, patient- centered care. Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations, scheduling, and patient management in their clinic.
• Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients independently.
- Provide a broad range of services such as prescribing medications, managing chronic illnesses and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Demonstrate strong documentation skills, ensuring clear, concise, and timely patient records.
- Use online communication tools effectively as part of patient diagnostics and care, if applicable.
- Implement panel management by tracking metrics such as patient access and workload and adjusting services based on panel demographics and health needs.
Qualifications:
Licensing & Certification
- Active registration as an NP in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and valid license to practice with no conditions.
- Compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) as per professional standards and Alberta law.
Communication & Documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on clear, concise, and timely documentation. Experience with EMRs and online communication for patient care is preferred.
Professional Liability Insurance
- Adequate coverage through the Canadian Nurses Protective Society, and general liability insurance if renting or owning clinic space.
Experience
- Proficient in primary care services, including health assessments, diagnosis, patient counseling, and chronic disease management. Experience in evidence-based practice, prescribing medications, and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Comfortable practicing independently, and competent in autonomous clinical decision- making.
- Competent in-patient care management, diagnostic skills, and prescribing medication, ideally gained through practical experience in Alberta or familiarity with the Alberta health system.
- Advanced consultation skills and familiarity with ethical decision-making in clinical settings.
