Location: The Admiral Long Term Care Centre - Dartmouth

Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-Time, Casual

Schedule:

  • 12 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Holidays
  • Morning shift
  • Weekends as needed

Salary: Up to $53,000.00 per year










What you'll do


Responsibilities



Responsibilities:

  • Work with fellow employees and Management to promote a positive atmosphere for residents, their families and visitors
  • Work with residents' family members and other healthcare providers to develop care plans
  • Encourage and assist in maintaining the autonomy of residents whenever possible
  • Maintain accurate documentation and charting for residents' files, incident reports etc.
  • Administer client medications according to care plan and document accordingly
  • Act as a resource, role model and supervisor of other staff while on duty
  • Procedure and policy administration
  • Orientation of new nursing staff
  • Process physician orders and ensure they're sent to the pharmacy in a timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning residents, staff and organizational information






What you'll need


Qualifications



Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Long Term Care setting or Home Care
  • Strong leadership and excellent nursing assessment skills
  • Current standard First Aid and CPR certification
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English
  • Respectful, hard working and compassionate above all else
  • Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record
  • Proof of COVID 19 vaccination
  • Graduate of an approved school of Practical Nursing
  • Palliative Care course an asset
  • Knowledge in Point Click Care electronic charting is an asset
  • PIECES Trained preferred
